What is Paint Effects?
Maya 3D is a high-end 3D animation and modelling package from Alias|Wavefront.
The latest version, 2.5.1, is enhanced with a feature called Paint Effects, an amazing new technology which allows you to paint natural phenomena like fire, grasses, trees, stars and even food directly into 3D space.
Paint Effects can be applied directly to a 2D canvas like traditional painting programs, or to the surface of a 3D model, or to the ground plane in Maya.
Paint Effects grow directly from curves you paint into your scene, and their growth can not only be animated, but natural forces can be applied to the finished strokes. In minutes you can have a field of gently waving grass, previously a very difficult feat in 3D.
About the Brush Exchange
The Brush Exchange was developed for Maya users worldwide to exchange new brushes and Paint Effects techniques.
Post your custom brush here (perhaps with a sample image and contact information) and download brushes created by other users.
This is a non-profit site, and all brushes are free. We hope you will respect the rights of other Maya users and not distribute or sell their creations for profit.
Many thanks, and enjoy the Brush Exchange!
